I like autumn! This may be due to my ability to get sunburn in candle light of course, but being able to put away the sunscreen and dive back into jeans and woolly socks is a pleasure. It is also harvest time so apple crumble and other comfort food is back on the menu too! For our family it also means we get competitive as we try and outdo each other by entering various classes at Stokesley Agricultural Show. No prizes for us this year, but there is always September 2014!
There were some great entries in the painting classes as ever.
The handicrafts tent had plenty to see, with knitting, painting, photography, baking and the intriguing classes of “____________ in any medium”. This year the blank was a hedgehog. See below for the winner. Not to mention the two catch all classes “not on schedule > 30cm” and “not on schedule < 30 cm”!!!
If you do happen to go next year, be sure to have a look in the children’s tent. My favourite class, although I am not sure what it is officially called, is the “fruit and vegetable animals” class. Take a look and see if you could disagree!
Finally, everyone was talking about the biggest pumpkin. And who wouldn’t be, coming in at 700 lb – that is 50 stone!
